Meenachan, Sefcik, Lipke are All-Fed

Boardman High senior Brooke Meenachan was named first team on the All-Federal League, announced today.

Meenachan, a 6-foot forward who will attend Youngstown State University on a softball scholarship, was joined on the all-league team by teammate Kayeligh Lipke, a senior who was named honorable mention.

Also, Austintown Fitch freshman Megan Sefcik (5-8) was named to the second team.

The team was led by Canton McKinley junior Ameryst Alston, who was named player of the year.

McKinley’s Sue Davis was named the coach of the year.

Also selected to the first team were junior Macy Byrd (5-10) of Perry, sophomores Paige Hill (6-2) of Jackson and McKenna Stephens (6-0) of Lake, and seniors Ashley Renninger (6-4) of GlenOak and Hannah Romano (5-3) of Hoover.

Other second-team selections were teammates Laneisha Lennon (5-9), a senior, and Aaliyah Dotson (5-7), a sophomore, from Canton McKinley; GlenOak senior Nancy Osborne (5-7), Lake junior Audrey Myers (5-10), Hoover senior Samantha Pavkov (5-5) and Perry junior Shlebi Tilton (5-9).

Also selected honorable mention were freshman Marquia Turner (5-7) and junior Gabby Kendall (5-10), both of Canton McKinley; junior Jordan Hunter (5-9) of Jackson, sophomore Kelsey Peare (5-9) and freshman Kaylee Stroemple (5-10) of Hoover, and sophomore Katy Frease (6-2) of Perry.

Canton McKinley won the league championship with a 10-0 record, followed by Hoover (8-2), Perry (6-4), Lake (5-5), Jackson (4-6), Boardman (3-7), Austintown Fitch (2-8) and GlenOak (2-8).

McKinley also won the district tournament championship, advancing to the regional this week at the Canton Civic Center on Tuesday and Friday.
