Members honored by Argus Lodge 545

Argus Masonic Lodge 545, F&AM, of Canfield paid tribute to distinguished members during an annual awards night event Feb. 25 at the lodge.

Commemorative pins and certificates were presented to Bill Britton, Robert Chambers and Carmen Pompeii in recognition of their 25 years of service. The awards were presented by John Martin, district deputy grand master, and Greg Anstrom, who was master of the lodge when the awardees were initiated in 1986.

Members honored in absentia for their years of service were: Jack Coberly and Robert Moherman, 60 years; Clyde Harris, Edward Dolovy, Darwin Fosnacht, Keith Ingle, Kenneth Wertz and Robert Whittaker, 50 years; and Paul Brock, Edward Gabrick, William Johnson, John Johnson, John Morrison and Frank Weaver, 25 years.

A handmade commemorative gavel was presented to Richard Percic, master of the lodge, by Larry Marshall.

The 114,000 Masons in Ohio provide approximately $15 million annually to charities. This year they gave $50,000 in college scholarships, contributed $200,000 to Special Olympics Ohio Summer Games and funded $70,000 in free training for hundreds of Ohio schoolteachers to recognize students at nonacademic risk. The Masons also provided $12 million in elderly care and helped many needy Ohio families and individuals through their charitable foundation. For more information visit
