2 suits allege negligence at OU’s health center
Two new lawsuits allege the Ohio University health center was negligent or didn’t meet accepted standards of medical care in treating two students.
The Columbus Dispatch reports one of the lawsuits in the Ohio Court of Claims was filed last month by the father of student Andrea Robinson of Cleveland Heights. She died after a bacterial meningitis infection last year. It alleges health-care staff advised her to take pain medication and get sleep, and that their actions led to her death.
Another suit was filed by former student Molly Millsop of Vandalia. Her complaint alleges clinic staff misdiagnosed a flesh-eating infection in 2007 and doctors had to amputate her arm. The family sued once before but withdrew the case.
The university has denied the allegations of wrong-doing.
