GREENVILLE, Pa.

The Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, the Shenango Valley YMCA and the Greenville Recreation Center are teaming up to offer Girls on the Run to preteen girls in the Mercer County Area.

The program will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for 10 weeks beginning March 22 at the Greenville Recreation Center, 45 Alan Ave. (at Riverside Park).

Girls on the Run combines training for a 3.1 mile run with lessons on self-esteem and healthy living. Founded by Molly Barker, a four-time Hawaii Ironman triathlete, the program’s mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

The program is open to girls in fourth, fifth and sixth grades in the Reynolds, Greenville, Jamestown and Commodore Perry School districts. For more information or to request a registration form, call the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon at 724-347-7700 or toll free at 866-347-7700.
