Two arsons probed at Rumors Lounge

Published: Fri, March 4, 2011 @ 12:27 p.m.

Township officials are investigating what they believe is the second intentionally set fire at Rumors Lounge this week.

Austintown Fire Chief Andy Frost Jr. said fire crews were called at about 4:15 a.m. to the bar at 104 N. Meridian Road, where it was engulfed in flames.

Rumors caught fire for the first time this week early Wednesday morning, and fire personnel estimated about $45,000 in damages. Friday’s fire was a total loss.

Frost said both episodes are being investigated as arson.

“It’s apparent that someone broke in, threw flammable liquid inside and started the fire,” he said.

Austintown police, the state fire marshal’s office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification are assisting with the investigation.
