Bridge work begins on Route 30 in Columbiana Co.

Staff report

Work begins today to repair dual bridges on U.S. Route 30 located over Columbiana County Road 424, which also is named the Y&O Road, near Rock Camp in Madison Township, Columbiana County, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

One 12-foot lane for traffic will be maintained in each direction with barrels until June 14, when it will be reduced to an 11-foot lane with concrete barrier and crossovers. During construction, the road may be closed for short durations not to exceed 20 minutes. ODOT’s contractor for the $2.5 million project is Marucci & Gaffney Excavating Co. of Youngstown. The completion date is Oct. 31.

Work also began Tuesday on a bridge replacement on U.S. Route 30 west of Lisbon over Cold Run at County Road 412. One lane for alternating one-way traffic will be maintained during construction with temporary traffic signals.

ODOT’s contractor for this $798,666 project is DOT Construction Corp. of Canfield. The completion date is Sept. 30. That structure was posted at a 75 percent reduced load limit for truck traffic last fall.
