GREENVILLE, Pa. (AP) — State police say they’ve fatally shot a western Pennsylvania man who allegedly tried to back over troopers with his vehicle when they came to arrest him on robbery charges.
State police in Mercer identified the dead man as 30-year-old Jeffrey Alan Anderson, of Greenville. The coroner in nearby Erie County has scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday, but police say they believe Anderson died from being hit with at least one shot fired by troopers about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
That’s when police say they went to Anderson’s home with arrest warrants for recent armed robberies. Police did not immediately say when and where the robberies occurred and The Associated Press could not immediately locate criminal complaints in the case.
But a search of online court records shows the Southwest Mercer Regional Police Department filed the charges earlier Tuesday based on an incident Saturday

Tires could have been shot out on the car to disable it . This was a very extreme measure . I see large outcry over this shooting .

A little surprised the Vindy didn't dispatch an ambulance to have the guy transported to Boardman for their next headline: "Boardman SWAT Sniper Saves Citizens From International Terrorist"
The Vindy should follow up on this story . This shooting happened by Thiel College in Greenville . The victim left a pregnant wife behind .
The information that I have gathered shows the victim being blocked in with no escape from the alley and unarmed when he was shot.Their tactics leave a lot to be questioned.
If that had been in Youngstown, everyone would have said "way to go", but since it's in a predominantly white area we need you follow the story because an white robbery suspect was shot and killed. No one deserves to be shot down like a dog, so why can't people feel this way about all humans.
Uhhh...shooting the tires does not prevent the suspect from still using the car as a weapon.
Fred:
Blocking the car in so that he had no escape is the right thing to do. If the police didn't do that and the suspect got mobile and killed someone in a pursuit, you would be crying about that. He was not unarmed....the guy was using the car as a weapon.
@joydav
Dont care what color his skin is
Way to go state police
@ Traveler
I don't care, but look at all the post re: predominantly black areas and it's kill them all and when it comes to predominantly white crimes they all need help. Read the blogs, it wasn't my personal view, I was making a general statement from what I read all the time.

The cop said Anderson tried to back over him and they shot. However the witness said he never backed into his drive and his car drove into the ravine. In other words when they shot him his foot relaxed upon death and the car drove into the ravine. Something you can not do if pulled in and in reverse. The cop lied!
unfortunately it does make a difference where it happened since Youngstown suspects are regularly carrying a gun and shooting people. It is a matter of what the police expect from a suspect. Sounds like these backwoods keycops didn't think to shoot out the tires first...definitely going to be trouble for them on this one
Greenville is a nice town. They just completed rebuilding their downtown, which cost them the loss of many businesses.
I'm not familiar with all the details, but if this guy was doing armed robberies, the cops have to be prepared and on alert. Thus, when you live by the sword, you die by the sword.
there is a ongoing investagation. now the police are the defendent. they have the same rights as anybody. If they are charged it will have to be proven beyond a resonable doubt. not easy in most cases. ask casy anthony
