YOUNGSTOWN
An event, billed as a dog adopt-a-thon, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mahoning County dog pound, 589 Industrial Road.
About 50 dogs will be available for adoption.
The adoption fee is $42.50 per dog under age three months and $50 for dogs older than three months.
For dogs that haven’t had a rabies shot and haven’t been spayed or neutered, an additional $80 is charged for those services.
All fees must be paid in cash at the time of adoption.
With the dog pound almost filled to capacity, the event is part of the pound’s effort to maximize adoptions and minimize the number of dogs that must be euthanized, said John Klenec, deputy dog warden.

Great idea for finding homes for them. This is what AFA should do instead of putting down animals. Offer a discount
Great Job Matt!!!
How long has this guy been on the job? This is the second article I have read about him doing something good to save the animals. What was that other idiot doing the whole time he was in that position? Finally someone that seems to care about the animals and not just there for the paycheck.
Good Job Matt
