On June 10, Union welcomed their last day of school and their annual year-end Fun Day. The day was a chance for students to let off some steam and reflect on a year of learning at Union Elementary.

The Union PTO provided fun for the students with inflatable bounce houses, kickball games and hula hoop activity areas set up around the school grounds. The students were provided with a Subway lunch and each grade watched a movie together in the school auditorium.

The day was a chance for the school’s younger students to say goodbye until next year, and for Union fourth-graders to say goodbye to their elementary school for good.

Fourth-grader Joshua Porter had a good outlook on his journey to McKinley Elementary next year. “I’m involved in Boy Scouts, so I have people that I know at my new school. I think that will help a lot,” Porter said.

On June 10, fourth-grader Sarah Leach was thinking about both her future at McKinley and her memories at Union.

“I’m nervous, because all the teachers are going to be completely new. But, I appreciate all the friends I’ve made here at Union and how much I learned to love math. I think those are good things to have in middle school,” Leach noted.

Fourth-grade teacher Michelle Landers had nothing but praise for her graduating class and wished them well in the future.

“This group has great study habits, they show kindness and compassion, and they’re true to themselves and to others. They’re a great bunch of kids and I know they’ll go far,” Landers said.
