Casey Anthony freed from Florida jail early today

Published: Sun, July 17, 2011 @ 1:03 a.m.

Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla.

Casey Anthony was freed from a Florida jail early today, 12 days after she was acquitted of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in a verdict that drew furious responses and even threats from people across the U.S. who had followed the case with rapt attention.

Anthony, wearing a pink T-shirt with blue jeans, left the jail at 12:14 a.m. with her attorney, Jose Baez. She was given $537.68 in cash from her jail account and escorted outside by two sheriff’s deputies armed with semi-automatic rifles. Neither Anthony nor Baez said anything to reporters and others gathered outside.

“This release had an unusual amount of security so, therefore, in that sense, it would not be a normal release,” said Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore. “We have made every effort to not provide any special treatment for her. She’s been treated like every other inmate.

Moore said there were no known threats received at the jail. Officials had a number of contingency plans in place, including plans in case shots were fired as she was released.

Anthony, 25, had been finishing her four-year sentence for telling investigators several lies, including that Caylee was kidnapped by a nonexistent nanny. With credit for the nearly three years she’s spent in jail since August 2008 and good behavior, she had only days remaining when she was sentenced July 7.

The case drew national attention ever since Caylee was reported missing. Cable network HLN aired the entire trial, with pundit Nancy Grace dissecting the case nightly. Vitriol poured into social networking sites when Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder, with observers posting angry messages on Twitter and Facebook’s “I Hate Casey Anthony” page.

Outraged lawmakers responded by proposing so-called Caylee’s laws that would allow authorities to prosecute parents who don’t quickly report missing children. And many still speculate about what really happened to Caylee: Was she suffocated with duct tape by her mother, as prosecutors argued? Or did she drown in an accident that snowballed out of control?

Casey Anthony was born in Warren in 1986 to George and Cindy Anthony, who lived in Howland before moving the family to Florida in 1989.

WOW!! The article said she flew back to her original hometown, Warren. Wouldn't that be interesting? She could probably run for office on the Democrat ticket and get elected here.

Where Does It Say She Flew Back To warren, I read it 4 Times That's Not what It Said, It said She Was Born In warren, I believe She Killed That Baby with Millions Of Others That Feel That Way. Stay In Fla , We Have Enough Killers Right Here, Don't Need No More Trash Here, especially Baby Killers

Read the USA Today article. She was found not guilty by a jury of her peers. That's our legal system. They sat on the jury and heard all the evidence, which the state of Florida had very little of. Deal with it. She deserves some money from the state of Florida for wrongful imprisonment. No one does 3 years for lying to the cops. Hasn't her life been torn apart enough!

Also, her father is a typical corrupt cop who tried to cover up a murder. He got away with it. He should be in prison. Cops do it around here every day, cover for each other. Nothing new to the corrupt cops or politicians we have around here. Keep voting for the democrats!

Since Casey is unavailable I'm sure that carlstaatz can find plenty of ladies here in the hood to select from . Casey was last seen running to a private jet and I'm sure that she isn't coming to The Valley . . ..

If everyone that is calling Casey guilty would look at their own life, completely honestly, and clean up their own life, they wouldn't have time to point fingers at others.Casey had a jury trial of her peers and found not guilty, so go home and clean your own life.

I think it actually was an accident that spun out of control. The charges were media induced. Mr. Ashton who had a very compelling emotional case had a planned retirement. He surely wanted to go out with a bang. He now does interviews, to appear to take the high road. Why did he not take the high road prior? He surely could have won a conviction for negligence and the manner in which the baby was disposed of. Do not be surprised if you see him run for some political office in the near future. Too much Nancy Grace being portrayed and people by into this media hoopla. Casey had serious communication problems and a very low self image. The lies she told her parents, that she was working, appear to have been to keep her parents off her back and to give them some peace. She apparently had many failures with them. Not unlike many families all around the world. I believe the baby died by accident, due to her negligence to keep a close eye on her. Her guilt, her low-self esteem, the problems she was having with her parents, prevented her from admitting this accident. She could not face it emotionally. This is why the baby appears to have landed in the car for a while, then in the land near the home.

If it was premeditated, she would have had a plan. This girl was seriously in a manic state and denial was her only learned reaction.

I know this upsets people that have watched Nancy Grace for three long years but this is how I feel. The Nancy Grace's of the world would have been perfectly fine putting to death a young woman, not fully believing the baby was murdered.

That should scare you.

Yeah it was an accident, she accidently gave the kid too much of her homemade chloroform then tried to cover it up till the body decomposed to the point there was no evidence to convict her . She's not as dumb as you think. That's why she waited 31 days.

That private jet landed in Columbus. Would not be surprised if she ends up in the Valley.

If she was coming to the Valley that jet would have landed at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport .

Funny how the NEWS media uses this MURDER for ratings and profit, but then advertise to the world about jurors and Casy should not make a profit.

Nancy Grace(totmom herself) has made Casey a millionaire. A tot mom herself calling someone else totmom. Grace used Casey case to bring ratings and probably millions to HLN. Casey was found not guilty. But many will not accept it. Maybe if the prosecution PROVED casey killed her daughter she would have been found guilty.. The public should be outraged at the prosecutors for not doing their job, proving beyond a REASONABLE DOUBT that casey committed such crime.

If the prosecution really believed the baby died by chloroform why did they not show us "how to make chloroform?" Seriously, she obviously is guilty of something but if they really believed she used the chloroform why did they not make the chloroform?

The answer is that they really do not believe or know she did in fact use the chloroform. It made a good story.

If you watch the defense's argument, you really have to question the whole chloroform story.

If there is one good thing that comes out of this case, I hope that prosecutors learn that people really are not as stupid as they think. If you have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt and you cannot convict a person solely on emotions, then you do use all your time and tax money trying to put to death someone that cannot be convicted of the charges your eliciting.

A craving for drugs, booze and loose morals caused a decay that resulted in the death of her daughter and incarceration . The jury gave her another chance at life .

Here is what everyone seems to casually miss and this is troubling. There is now talk (very speedy talk) so no one will make a big deal about it, that the guy who testified that chloroform was searched 84 times. I repeat "84" times, found this was incorrect before the trial and tried to reach the prosecution and left messages and they never phoned him back. Duh?

It does not take a brain surgeon to figure out that the prosecution new ahead of time that the chloroform was not searched "84" times but in fact, only one time, just as the defense showed in argument. Had this been the defense lawyer lying, he would be barred. The prosecution (now retired) is safe as usual. This is wrong.

Not only did they (Nancy Grace and friends) elaborate on the "84" searches, they accused the mom, Cindy Anthony, of perjury for stating that she said she searched for chlorophyll, which had a pop up of chloroform which she read about. One time. She told the prosecution this in 2008.

While I am no fan of Casey Anthony, I have a real problem with trying people for a death penalty case, with lies. This is extremely disheartening and should not be so casually over-looked like it is now by the media who caused the fame of Casey Anthony in the first place.

It explains why they never did show us "how to make the chloroform" in the first place.

Gee... young people too messed up to admit a child's likely accidental death, beautiful toddler obviously loved by her family, tossed in the woods as a cover-up, cheating, lying, and now we have proof the prosecution sought charges they themselves were uncertain of, because Casey was a good looking party girl.

What is the world coming to?...Might want to put a party hat and drink in the hands of the prosecutor's office. They too are full of lies and mystery.
