Beautification plan for Brier Hill area


Lien Forward Ohio is having a public meet-and-greet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Jubilee Gardens in the Brier Hill section of the city on Lafayette Street.

Lien Forward officials will discuss their plans, in conjunction with V&M Star, to beautify the U.S. Route 422 corridor and the Brier Hill area.

Also, V&M Sons and Daughters, the children of V&M employees working at the facility this summer, will do clean-up work at several locations throughout the neighborhood Tuesday.

House fire in city called suspicious


A fire, considered suspicious by firefighters, destroyed a vacant multiplex house on Kenmore Avenue.

The fire started about 6 a.m. Saturday at the structure that included five apartments, firefighters say.

The apartments shared a roof, causing the fire to spread quickly. Firefighters consider the cause of the fire to be suspicious.

Grove City group plans nature walk


A free family nature walk sponsored by Mercer County Conservation District at Grove City’s Hunter’s Farm Park will be at 7 p.m. July 19.

Participants are to meet at the Grove City soccer fields.

The one-hour walk is designed to get families outside and enjoy the nature that surrounds them. Learn about various plant and animal species during the walk from the environmental educators while strolling on the trails near Wolf Creek.
