A 30-year-old East Side woman shot in the head by a stray bullet while on her bed is in stable condition, police said.
The Council Rock Avenue woman was texting in her bedroom when she was hit in her right temple by a bullet at 7:21 tonight.
Two men watching TV in a different room at her home on the 1500 block of Council Rock told police they heard five gunshots and then the victim yell she was shot and to call 911, said police Lt. Doug Bobovnik.
The victim, shot once, was probably not the intended target of whoever fired the gun, Bobovnik said.
When police arrived, the woman was able to talk to officers and explain what happened, Bobovnik said. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for medical treatment.
There are no suspects in the shooting as of this hour.
Police detectives found two .40-caliber casings on the street on Craiglee Avenue, a short distance from the victim’s home, Bobovnik said. Police believe that is where the shots were fired.
