Police get bare facts on crash: Driver charged after 3 nude men flee SUV

Staff report

BOARDMAN

An 18-year-old township man was charged with drunken driving and other offenses after he fled an accident and dropped off three nude passengers, township police said.

About 4 a.m. Saturday, police received reports from citizens about a crash on Oakridge Drive and a black Ford Explorer leaving the scene.

Police said they saw the sport-utility vehicle driven by Jason E. Egner stopped on Mathews Road with its hazard lights on and three nude men running from the passenger-side door.

The SUV continued traveling west on Mathews very slowly, as a front tire was flat and the rim was on the road, according to reports.

Officers suspected Egner, who was clothed, was under the influence and gave him a breath test, which recorded a reading of 0.153. The legal blood-alcohol limit in Ohio is 0.08.

When the police went to Oakridge, they found a front license plate that matched the vehicle Egner was driving.

Egner also is charged with two counts of obstructing official business and an underage-person offense.

He is scheduled to appear today on the charges in Mahoning County Area Court here.
