Austintown man found dead outside his home

Township police are awaiting word from the Mahoning County coroner in the death of a man found naked Wednesday outside his home.

“Unless they find anything, we don’t really have anything going,” said Lt. Robert Schaeffer, who noted that the man had recently complained of flu symptoms.

Guy Albrecht, 58, was discovered on his side in his backyard by his ex-wife and son, who came to check on him when he did not return phone calls. Albrecht’s ex-wife had recently spoken with Albrecht, who said he had the flu. Albrecht’s home was locked and inside police found two cats and a German Shepherd in good condition. The television was on along with a heating pad on the couch next to some blankets.

how sad. yeah, the mahoning county coroner's office does take forever to complete investigations. six months is the normal waiting period for final determinations. it has nothing to do with being part time. there are a number of investigators in the office who are assigned and work on individual cases. it has to do with the coroner himself. he just doesn't give a damn and knows that he will hold the position for as long as he wants so he doesn't push to get things done. in mahoning county, the coroner has to be a licensed physician and most of our doctors are not interesed in the post. most voters don't have personal experience with his office and, therefore, do not know how it is run. talk about a public official who's overpaid.
