YOUNGSTOWN — City police are warning motorists to avoid the 7-11 Connector for the time being. Heavy snow tonight and the steep hill cars must travel has made for treacherous driving.
Cars are skidding sideways. Extreme caution is urged.
Also, the Albert Street Connector is also slick. Calls are coming in from all over the Mahoning Valley on cars losing control on the slippery highways.

If state takes over the maintenance, wouldn't Youngstown lose a few miles of state funding and potential loss of justification of a job or two?
I understand your viewpoint of safety, just asking a question.
I agree that it needs to be maintained better - it seems like as soon as it snows you hear that 711 is shut down due to a wreck
It also has to be said that folks need to slow down on it in good weather so they most certainly need to use better sense in bad weather! I rarely travel that way so I don't know how bad it gets first-hand when the weather turns nasty.
However I did happen to be out that way about a week ago - going in between 55-60 (speed is only 55 on that road) people were flying by me like I was sitting still. Those bends and curves are not meant for that kind of speed... especially if during bad weather they are not being cleared good enough.
Actually, it's probably just a dumb place to locate a freeway. I'm not a surveyor or engineer, but just about anybody can see the steep hill and tight turn will add up to trouble, especially in bad weather.
