8 vehicle thefts in Boardman

Published: Tue, February 8, 2011 @ 6:04 p.m.

BOARDMAN

Boardman was hit with thefts from eight vehicles in a seven-block area sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, according to police.

A string of thefts occurred north of Indianola Road between Market Street and Southern Boulevard. Coins were listed as missing items on four separate police reports, but two vehicles, which were unlocked, had items such as a stereo, an LCD projector and a laptop reported missing.

One reported no missing items.

Come on Vindy, you know very well that any other time if it wasn't for the Police Levy this would not be news, only police blotter fare.

The headline is misleading also, there was not 8 vehicles stolen, only 8 vehicles broken into for a few coins and and if it wasn't for some who leave a laptop ad LCD player in unlocked cars just waiting to be lifted, this probably wouldn't even make the cut into the published police blotter due to limited space available in the daily paper.

Who at the township has the inside connection to Todd Franko? Come on Todd, how about some real journalism? Ask the hard questions of the township and it's employees to why nor concessions and only the option of a 3.85 mil Levy or double digit layoffs?

Or how was the last levy that promised 10 offices for a 2 mil levy for safety forces that only recalled some firefighters and one officer? Ask Jim Holloway about how thin the ranks are at the fire stations, he has so steadfastly stated that we are bashing this levy, all that we need to do is make the adjustments to the inheritance supported contracts and bring all compensations in line with peer communities and we would be flush with funds to hire more for all services and provide first responder vehicles to all three fire stations that would be properly staffed so we don't have to send out the big truck unless the need truly warrants it.

Really, Respectfully Jim, Ytown1 (I am not bashing, just trying to make sure as many people get to see the other side)

Crime is not up in Boardman, they are just posting these incidental thefts so it appears that way, end around endorsement by the Vindy for more taxes.

Concessions and rewriting of contracts is in order to correct this staffing issue that carlstaatz demands for.audit for your answers, not another levy.

Screw the levy. They never do what they say they will with the extra money. They'll give raises instead of hiring more. The cops they have now are lazy, they let crimes happen right in front of them. They dont follow the traffic laws themselves. They dont get out of their cars to file a police report. Then when you call to talk to a detective about fraud and nobody ever answers the phone and they never contact you and then the dispatchers argue with you. I will never vote for them and if it passes, I am moving.

WHO would leave their car unlocked in Boardman ????? Maybe the same people who thinks it is safe out here. We have become downtown Ytown.

30% of the police department has already been cut. What do people think will happen.
