Gov. John Kasich will visit today with Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams and Youngstown State University President Dr. Cynthia Anderson on campus to discuss an off-campus shooting that left one man dead, critically injured a 17-year-old girl and caused lesser injuries to 10 others.
Kasich will meet with Williams and Anderson between 3:15 and 4 p.m. today at Tod Hall, where the YSU president’s office is located. The three are to meet with the media at 4 p.m.
“I have offered to them the use of any and all state resources they might require,” Kasich said. “I will continue to monitor the situation and provide any support necessary to help those impacted by this tragic event.”
Police charged two Youngstown men — Columbus E. Jones Jr., 22, of 529 Cambridge Ave., and Braylon L. Rogers, 19, of 174 E. Lucius Ave. — with one count each of aggravated murder and firing into a habitation, and 11 counts each of felonious assault. The two are to be arraigned today.
Jamail Johnson, 25, who was killed Sunday at the 55 Indiana Ave. home attended YSU and five of the other shooting victims are students there.

When Kasich wants your vote, he'll be back.
dubfun, one of your previous posts. In my opinion you 're a pessimistic ideologue. This is two visits within a couple of weeks. It's possible he may be looking for votes down the road, and it's also possible he cares.
God bless Mr. Kacich for coming to Youngstown. Nice to know the governor cares.
Mr. Kasich should be commended for coming here. It's one thing to make a statement from Columbus, but it is another thing to actually take the time out of your busy day to meet with the officials here in Youngstown.
Big deal. Isn't that what he's supposed to do?
Mr. Kasich seems to be a good man! He should be highly praised for his visit to YSU.
If the Mayor really wants to make an impression with the governor, he should bring his police chief with him to the meeting and have him try to put two sentences together. Then, after the governor picks his jaw up off the floor, he can offer some practical solutions.
Oh, and I hope Dr. Anderson wears the leopard-skin coat, too. Dynamite look!
Strickland did nothing to end the violence . He supported sparing killers on death row !
