Pregnant woman terrorized by home invaders

Published: Tue, February 1, 2011 @ 11:54 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police are investigating a home invasion where a pregnant West Side woman was terrorized, assaulted and held at gunpoint.

The 21-year-old woman was in her Mahoning Avenue home with her 25-year-old boyfriend just after 1 a.m. today when the boyfriend decided to go to a corner store for cigarettes. The woman, who is seven months pregnant, was home alone with her 2-year-old son when the intruders broke in.

The woman told police she was in a bathroom when she heard loud noises that she assumed were made by her boyfriend returning from the corner store. When she went to see what was causing the commotion she was confronted by two masked men standing in her kitchen.

The woman noticed that one of the masked men was holding a gun when she entered the kitchen.

That's why every home owner should be armed. The scum that THEY keep letting out of jail or giving probation to to just so they can go back on the streets to the only skill they know.

And arm yourselves before your beloved congressman, senator and president make it illegal.

"Individuals in possession of a gun at the time of an assault are 4.46 times more likely to be shot in the assault than persons not in possession (Branas et al, 2009). It would appear that, rather than being used for defense, most of these weapons inflict injuries on the owners and their families." http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/T...

You're right, if the pregnant women would just have come into the kitchen gun a blazing everything would have worked out fine. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that kind of thinking.

palbubba - you are so ignorant, there is no way that guns could be made illegal it is part of our bill of rights. the only thing they can do is make it harder for citizens to be able to get guns.

You should cry, nojimbo. Because non-thugs will hesitate to shoot someone whereas thugs won't.

No, ojanet22, the point is that statisticly most people who fire a gun in self defense against an "intruder" actually end up accidently shooting a family member.

Either that, or a young child finds a loaded gun and shoots themself or a friend.

I'm all in favor of a pistol packing mama-to-be taking out a couple of low life criminals, it's just that the real life result of gun ownership is usually far different.
