A 22-year-old woman has been sentenced to 18 months’ probation after she pleaded guilty to felonious assault with a tire iron.
Lashonna Shakoor of Dogwood Lane drew the sentence Wednesday from Judge John M. Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Shakoor hit a man with a tire iron in a March 29, 2010, confrontation outside his Elm Street residence on the North Side.
Shakoor’s friend and co-defendant, Shanique McGee, 22, of Buckeye Court, who pleaded guilty to felonious assault with a hammer and violation of a protection order in the same incident, will be sentenced at a later date.
The victim, who was struck on his head and body, was treated at a hospital.
The victim is McGee’s ex-boyfriend, said Jennifer McLaughlin, an assistant county prosecutor.
Judge Durkin warned Shakoor that any probation violation could result in her going to prison for up to eight years.
Both defendants pleaded guilty to the felonies as charged.
Comments
Judge Durkin is on a real roll. Probation for beating someone with a tire iron, probation for rape and kidnapping, I wonder if murder would get you any jail time. Another travesty of the justice system in the Valley. What will it take to get the people of the Valley outraged with these inept elected officials in our justice system?
This guy will get reelected because he is a member of the D party. That's all the people of the this valley look at.
Hammers & tire irons; these women are dangerous and should serve some jail time.
