Unemployment drops in Valley to 8.4 percent
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning Valley received a Christmas gift a few days early this year.
The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services reported Tuesday that the area’s unemployment rate in November nose-dived 2.1 percent compared to the same month last year.
The unemployment rate is now 8.4 percent, the lowest it has been since November 2008.
The Valley’s unemployment rate is now lower than the state rate, which in November was 8.5 percent.
There were 244,200 working residents in November, up from 242,500 during the same month last year. The number of unemployed dropped from 28,400 to 22,400, a 21 percent drop.
The civilian labor force, defined as people 16 and older who are working or looking for work, excluding military, students, volunteer workers and those in institutions, retired or unable to work, dropped by 4,000 year-over-year.

Is this Vindy math again?
244200-242500=1700 more people working
However
28400-22400=6000 less unemployed
Where did the 4300 people go?
Just read the last sentence How dothey count those 4000 people who fit in that catagory? They just pull a number out of a hat to mae the others looks good?
Unemployment drops.....what a bunch of BS. What about those unemployed, not collecting? Whose radar screen are they on?
This is more Liberal BS to get the Bro reelected next year. . What I would like to know is How many people join the welfare ranks this year. I'll bet its more then the 4000 or so that they didn't count.
rocky,
I'm sure you'll agree, because of Gov. Kasich's economic policies,Ohio and our Mahoning Valley is finally getting out the woods. Your positive response will help in getting a positive attitude going here in The Mahoning Valley. Thank you.
borylie Rocky14 has been brain washed so badly by the D party he couldn't see improvement if it hit him the face. If the D party doesn't do it, to him its no good. So if I were you I wouldn't hold my breathe.

But dont let the facts bother you keep up the posts without researching
regardless of facts or anything else your going to vote for Obama because he is black admit it
my math may be wrong but if unemployment rose at .1% and that was a loss of 730,000 jobs that means a work force of 730,000,000 twice the population of the United States.
It's significant that the Valley's & Ohio's unemployment rate is now BELOW the US average for the first time in many years .
This is because of a structural adjustment in favour of manufacturing & energy industries . Some may not like to hear it , but the rustbelt may be becoming a jobs engine again .
lets see after the minimum wage seasonal jobs end
