To celebrate the release of the movie “Breaking Dawn- Part 1,” chronicling the vampire-human love story and marriage of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, fans of the Twilight book series from around Mahoning County visited the Poland library on Nov. 17 to be part of a very special wedding.

“We love to see kids that are excited about reading and we definitely have a lot of Twilight fans that visit the library,” said Janet Loew, public relations director for the library.

“The Twilight series is all about an epic love story and ‘Breaking Dawn’ is where we see the couple finally get married. We invited local seventh- to 12th-grade girls to celebrate the wedding with us, and we hope that the entire experience is sweet and exciting for them,” explained Cindy Beach, teen librarian.

As guests entered the Poland library’s meeting room on Nov. 17, a wedding arbor and a cardboard cutout of the stars of the series, Edward and Bella, greeted them. In the cutout, Bella’s face was left open so that the girls could take a wedding photo with Edward, which the library printed out and offered as a gift to each guest.

Crafts and activities at the event included making a duct tape rose, filling a heart-shaped key chain with a favorite Twilight character, and receiving a ‘vampire bite’ with two dots of red paint.

However, for many guests, it was enjoyable just to discuss the series with fellow fans.

“I really love the books and I think they bring the world to life in a really cool way,” said Twilight fan Logan Kountz.

“I’m having so much fun tonight. I’m the biggest Edward fan,” Kountz added.
