LORDSTOWN — Most General Motors Co. workers will have a little extra money to spend this holiday season.
Hourly workers will receive $250 bonuses in their Dec. 16 paychecks, a company spokeswoman said today.
That amounts to more than $1 million injected into the local economy, based on Lordstown’s more than 4,500 workers.
Employees achieved vehicle-quality standards set forth in the United Auto Workers labor agreement from this fall. GM reached 98 percent of its quality targets, the company said. Nearly all its workers will receive the bonus.
“Right now we’re more quality conscious that I’ve seen in years,” said Jim Graham, president of UAW Local 1112 at Lordstown, said of meeting the quality standards.
Salaried employees fall under a different bonus program; their bonuses will not be determined until next year.

Fairandequal 's motto is HATE Thy Neighbor and wish them ill.
Will fair I wish you and yours a Marry Christmas and a Heppy New Years..
How many illegal prescription pills will that buy?
A measly couple hundred dollars earned by workers for product excellence is much better than trillions of dollars freely given to banks as a reward for driving the world economy into ruin.
hOW ABOUT THE TAXPAYERS BONUS FOR BAILING OUT THESE COMPANIES WHIO PUT OUT AN INFERIOR PRODUCT FOR THE LAST 50 yEARS
Ok Fair and Equal. You obviously werent 100% successful outsourcing all of Delphi's local jobs to Mexico. There are still several hundred of them here, yet im sure you received nice big bonus checks, probably delivered to the Olympic club while you were working on your tan. Get a life dude. Your constant bashing of GM and its workers is getting old. Rather than celebrate another huge influx of tax revenue to our area, youd rather get another shot in. Pathetic.
valleytruth,
Why should FairandEqual give up for what he must feel is a worthwhile endeavor? Because you say so? If one feels strongly and has the stamina to stay true to a cause, shouldn't he be encouraged? Obviously you have the choice to quit reading his posts if they're getting to you.
Careless assumptions? I havent done the calculations, but if 75k for the state and cities is correct, thats hardly a drop in the bucket. Plus, thats just from the GM lordstown facility. GM has thousands of other workers around the state who will also be receiving the payments. I would also agree that just before the hoilidays many people may be travelling, but just as many will be spending whatever is left after taxes on gifts which also will generate tax revenue to the counties/cities/etc. Regardless, those thousands going to the city/states/ss/medicare and the employees are a great thing for our local, state, and federal communities, perod.
When the tax payers buy a new GM car they are charged "regular" prices BUT when a GM emplyee buys a new GM car they get a "GM price" is that fair? Since the taxpayers bailed out GM shouldn't the price of a car be the same for everyone?
If influx of money will help the economy why not give every tax payer a "bonus" of (say $100,000) and let them put this money into the economy
Didn't they just get $9000
