Wonder what the per capita crime rate is if we isolate the population of the Southside compared to the mass of crimes committed there?

YSU needs to re-start it's crime analysis of the city.

Pemberton Park should be turned into a shooting range . For winter months an indoor shooting range should be constructed . When the people have no place to practice their favorite sport accidents are bound to happen .

Vindy, I am extremely dissapointed to see this article on the 8th page of today's paper. I know that this was a late occurance, but the violence in this city should be more important than an earthquake over 300 miles away. I know it is hard because the frequency of the violence might make you numb to it, but please make an effort to expose those who keep this city down. Relationships with local authorities are important, but expose how the police are more eager to sit at the gas station on midlothian and south avenue than to patrol this seedy side of town.

Another typical night in the good old south side. Once again the little sissy wanna be gangstas playing around with guns. Really can't wait till the day they meet their match. Then the mother will come on and say how "great" there little monsters were. But for now, no one knows anything and no one snitches until there dead. You live by the gun you die by the gun.
Don't they ever get tired of the same old sh@#4 everyday? Amazing.

Racer12: Any incident that we try to report on with less than an hour before deadline is likely going to get pushed back to an available page. It has nothing to do with the importance of the subject matter, but mostly has to do with simple logistics. Also, with no police report available before deadline, there really wasn't much more to report. We'll follow this today, post any updates online and add details for Thursday's newspaper.

I wonder how many of these "shooters" actually completed 12 years of schooling, how many quit school once they reached 16 years of age, and how many quit before they reached 16? The dropout rate in The Valley is one of the worst in the state and our crime rate follows the same path.

Just drive down Market St. on the southside anytime of the day, anytime of the year and you will see children, under the age of 12, walking around. What they are doing, I would say starting their street cred early. This is during school hours also and I have regularly questioned why they would be out.

Let us address a number of issues:

1) foxy, When people are dropped off at the hospital it is the usual "I don't know nuttin" syndrome by those doing the drop off.

2) The positive side of being dropped off is that the taxpayers do not have to pay for the ambulance service. Still get the emergency charges but any dollar saved is good.

3) Even though this story was on the 8th. page of the Vindy due to time constraints etc. it was probably appropriately placed. News items make the front pages, while everyday things get pushed back. Anyone surprised to hear that three were shot on the southside, of course not.

When these hoodrats are dropped off at the hospital,they get treatment first. Does not matter if you were there before they were. Nor does it matter how dire your situation is. You have to wait. Does not matter if you have insurance either. Too bad for you. Let that blood clot in your lung shoot into your brain. St E's does not care. I waited three days for a test there in July,to be told the emergency patients have priority. That means these slugs. I asked if it was indeed these low lifes clogging the system,I got a muttered response of yes. If they want to go around shooting each other,go ahead. But wait your damn turn in the hospital. It is not fair to us who pay our taxes,earn our wages and have insurance. North Side wisely refuses trauma cases. Great move on their part. St E's is a mess. Even if you are a trauma patient you have to wait your turn for the wannabe gangbangers. And don't forget your gun for the parking lots and waiting rooms.

Police said _____ people/person were shot _______ night on the city’s South Side.

The shooting occurred on _______ Avenue.

As of _______., _______ of those shot/s was fatal, police said. All three were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. No other information was available at press time.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Noone has been caught but if they are Gains has plea-bargained them to curfew violations and they sentenced to time served.

Also President Obama would like to blame (Bush/Tea Party/Republicans) for the situation on the south side.

Obviously JJC is not deterring these little wanna be thugs, because little thugs just grow up to be bigger thugs. So instead of JJC, I say military camp like tent city in Arizona. You live outside in tents, placed dead smack in the middle of the Southside. Maybe they will think twice about going back, no fancy buildings no nice little rec area, just a tent.

The sad thing is that it really is feasable for 90% of the shootings on the southside!
