GOSHEN

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold a checkpoint from 9 p.m. to midnight tonight on US Route 62 in Mahoning County west of state Route 45 in Goshen Township.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoint will be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to further combat impaired driving as well as alcohol related injury and fatal crashes. The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, Salem City, Perry Township, Sebring Village, Smith Township and Goshen Township Police departments will participate in the saturation patrols.

No,
the courts have ruled that the public must be given advanced notice of the planned checkpoints so that you may avoid them, thus, guaranteeing your right against "search and seizure".

Do we drug test police?

I say breathalyzers connected to ignition for all police cars.

Such a waste of resources.

We'd do far better to just limit alcohol purchases at bars/taverns to 1 drink per hour. Fact is most people intoxicated are coming from such watering holes.

The rest of us drink at home and drive the lazy boy around the gameroom instead.

Folks remember the 1970's? Crash your car and the PD would drive you home. No one charged anyone unless you injured someone else. Now we just criminalize everything and waste time and resources we don't have playing ignorant games.

Stazi interrogation time. Can't travel on the roads without your papers. Freedom my a!!.
