Pa. DUI suspect caught at the 'end of the road'

Published: Fri, August 12, 2011 @ 3:35 p.m.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — Police have a man in custody on drunken driving and other charges after they say he literally ran out of road while trying to flee in his car.

Shenango Township police say 54-year-old Norman Johnston III sped away when they tried to stop him for traffic violations about 1:15 a.m. today.

Police say Johnston, of West Pittsburg, turned onto the U.S. Route 422 bypass and ended up in a lane under construction. That’s when his car went airborne then crashed down onto some rebar in a road bed that has no concrete in it. That flattened the front tires and damaging the car which stopped after 100 yards or so.

Johnston remained in the Lawrence County Jail on Friday.

Another fine citizen of New Castle. So many idiots for a "small town".
