Township police took three men into custody early Saturday morning after shots were fired at the Go Go Cabaret.
At about 3:10 a.m., a patrolman heard gunshots coming from the parking lot at the Go Go, on Clarkins Drive. He saw an unknown male was running from the area between several parked cars, according to a news release.
At the same time, the officer saw a vehicle carrying three men leave the parking lot at a high rate of speed and head south on state Route 46, the release states.
While the officer was pursuing the suspects, he saw what appeared to be a flash from a gunshot coming from the vehicle.
Police were eventually able to stop the suspects’ vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Interstate 80, with the help of other departments, according to the release.
The three inside the car were taken into custody by Austintown police, and Chief Bob Gavalier said that two of them are in Mahoning County jail charged with felonious assault on a police officer and several drug offenses.
Their names and ages haven’t been released.
Gavalier said the third man was released from custody because police believe he was just a passenger in the car.
Once police were able to apprehend the suspects inside the car, officers went back to the Go Go to look for the man they saw fleeing on foot, but were unable to locate him, Gavalier said.
He said they’re not sure who he is or if he is related to the incident.
