MERCER, Pa.
Pennsylvania residents must register to vote or change their voter registration by Oct. 4 to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 2 general election.
Applications can be downloaded at www.votespa.com or picked up at the election office in the Mercer County Courthouse, as well as many local post offices. For information, call 724-662-7542.
Also, poll workers are needed for the general election.
Needed are high school students at least age 17. School administrators or government teachers who have students who want to volunteer should contact Jeff Greenburg at 724-662-7542 or jgreenburg@mcc.co.mercer.pa.us. Only one representative should submit a list on behalf of a school district.
One poll worker is needed in each of the following precincts to fill permanent vacancies: Jackson Center, New Lebanon and New Vernon Township.
Emergency replacement poll workers are needed to fill in at any location in the county for last-minute vacancies. Those hired would be required to work two elections each year and attend a training class before each election.
The total hourly commitment is approximately 33 hours each year. Workers are paid $95 for working Election Day and $5 for attending training class.
