Special to The Vindicator
As part of the annual Green Energy Ohio Renewable Energy Tour, Valley Energy Solutions is sponsoring a van tour of seven Mahoning County renewable energy and energy-efficiency sites from 9:40 a.m. to 3 p.m Oct. 2.
The van tour includes visits to an energy star development in Canfield, a century home that runs on solar power, and two area businesses that greatly reduce utility costs by using large solar arrays.
Stops will also be made at the home of a family that heats their domestic hot water from the sun and a farm home that gets some of its electricity from a modern windmill.
Participants will hear firsthand accounts on how these homeowners and businesses made the investment, the installers they used and what they have learned. At the last stop, a homeowner will present his logic on deciding between solar, wind and solar thermal technologies for his house.
Refreshments will be served at the final stop.
Reservations are required. To register, call Chrissy at Valley Energy Solutions 330-702-0147.
The annual Green Energy Ohio Renewable Energy Tour takes place Oct. 2-3. It includes open houses at multiple homes and businesses throughout the state. The tour is intended to increase awareness and use of sustainable energy technologies through informal visits between site owners and interested citizens, community leaders and businesses.
