Banna, Patella leave YSU football team

Published: Wed, September 8, 2010 @ 12:09 p.m.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Dan Banna and sophomore safety Vinnie Patella have left the YSU football team for "personal reasons."

Banna, a Canfield High graduate, originally signed as a tailback but was shifted to linebacker late in training camp. His older brother, Kyle, is a senior fullback on the team.

Patella, a Mooney High graduate, redshirted in 2008 and saw action in six games last season.

Neither player appeared in Saturday's opener against Penn State and neither appeared on the team's two-deep depth chart.
