Obama assails GOP, promotes new jobs program

Early voting against Dems starts Sep.28 in Ohio.

There he goes again, assailing the GOP-one more time.

It is easier than admitting his program is NOT working. Just point the finger and say, "Well, the Republicans don't have a plan" (that goes along with his own unique economic philosophy, that is).

It's only a guess, but, being frozen out in the "healthcare" bill and taking a lot of flak from people for being involved in the stimulus package, just maybe the Republicans are figuring that it don't pay them (yet) to offer any suggestions. And maybe the Republicans see that what is being done by the current regime isn't the way to go. Maybe the history of John Maynard Keyne's "Pump Priming" theory of the Great Depression wasn't so hot after all. And, so maybe the Republicans don't want to go along with the old "Pump Priming" nonsense.

So now, we'll see a glorified WPA program resurrected to the tune of at least $50 Billion? Whats next after that, the CCC?

I have seen this reference repeated many times recently, but it bears repeating again. In his book "New Deal or Raw Deal?: How FDR’s Economic Legacy Has Damaged America." (an excellent book, I recommend it), historian Burton Folsom provides the following quote from Henry Morgenthau, Jr. Secretary of the Treasury of the United States during the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Morgenthau said this to fellow Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee in May of 1939:

--"We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work. I want to see this country prosperous….. I want to see people get a job. We have never made good on our promises…... I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started and an enormous debt to boot."--

And here we are again, repeating the horrendous mistakes of the past as if we have no memory.

I haven't read this book, but I'll see if I can scare up a copy. My understanding was that between 1935 to 1937, employment seemed to improve, but in early or mid 1938, people again lost their jobs. According to my folks, my dad didn't start working a 5 day week in the mill until late 1941. And your source (Burton Folsom) may have said that the "New Deal" policies added about 7 years to the Depression.

Even now, as those with at least a few firing synapses realize what this man is doing to our country, he continues to proceed into the realms of cataclysm.

Obama carries three potential classifications with him. 1. He completely understands the brutal destruction he has caused in our future, and simply does not care. 2. He has absolutely no clue how to massage and lead our economy, and neither does any one of his advisors. 3. He knows he is gone in two years and wants to stick it to the producers in this country for the years of "clandestine oppression" of the poor.

It is sad that any argument against said classifications involving the last guy are now moot and borderline absurd. Can it really be true that one of the worst leaders in our country's history - Dubya - has been made to look mediocre?

The first trillion dollar stimulus created no new jobs. Why should we believe him when he says another $50 biullion will create jobs? This is all about construction union support which most unions' members have long given up on Odumba. The DemoRATS are in for a blood bath in November. Their socialist liberal Tax & Spend policies have FAILED.

My only wish is Tim Ryan and Ted Stricknine join them in the DemoRAT unemployment line. Their votes and inactions have done nothing but cost the valley thousands of jobs like those at Denman Tire and GE Lighting plants in the valley. Time for CHANGE and it ain't Odumba this time around.

Actually, the biggest are not "Americans" for the most part anymore, as they are multinationals who, for the largest part , pay no taxes at all.

The richest people in America, e.g. Gates, Buffet, Soros, Paul Allen, do not mind paying their fair share.

Actually, the Obama adminstration was not able to implement its initial proposals due to obstrutionist tactics. Although it wwas not enough, recent CBO figures show that without it, we'd have fallen into the void.

I am old enough to remember how supply side Replublicans (E.G. Jack Kemp, the Eric Laffer Curve) said that the US could grow itself out of decficits, and during the period from 1992-2000, under a Democrat, that's exactly what we did!

If I were king, I'd do exactly what is suggested...and triple it. Even Senator Voinovich has seen the light as to the proposal...so maybe there are some reasonable people in the party.
