2010 Outstanding Youth Nominees
This year, 14 members of the Canfield Fair’s Junior Fair were nominated to be honored as Outstanding Youth. The two winners will be chosen Thursday afternoon on the Youngstown Symphony Stage on the Concourse.
Amanda Smith: The Salem native has been in the Future Farmers of America for five years and 4-H for 11 years. She has won several awards in both organizations and is the Junior Fair Board president. Smith is attending Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute.
Hannah Miller: The Salem native is a 2010 graduate of West Branch High School and has been a member of the Future Farmers of America for four years and is a 4-H member. Miller is the Junior Fair Board treasurer and served as president and treasurer of the Stockmen Livestock Club.
Heidi Moff: She is from Columbiana and has been a part of the Farm Bureau Youth organization for seven years, as well as a member of 4-H. Moff attends Ohio State University. She’s been on the Junior Fair Board for four years and on the 4-H Royal Court for two years.
Justin Moff: He has been a member of the Farm Bureau Youth organization for five years and 4-H for 11 years. Moff, of Berlin Center, graduated from West Branch High School and attends Youngstown State University. He served as vice president of the Farm Bureau Youth Council and is a two-year member of the Junior Fair Board.
Tiffany Barickman: She is a junior at West Branch High School and has been a Girl Scout for three years. She is also a member of 4-H, Future Farmers of America and the Junior Fair Board.
Jenna Benson: The Campbell native has been a Girl Scout for three years. Benson is a representative of Junior Fair Board and a 2009 Outstanding Youth candidate. She also is involved in 4-H and wants to attend YSU.
Hannah Shrader: She is a 13-year member of Grange. Shrader, of Berlin Center, is a senior at Western Reserve High School, is chairwoman of the Grange Committee and a Junior Fair Board representative. She’s also involved in 4-H.
Jessica Corll: She is a 14-year member of Grange who also is involved in 4-H and Farm Bureau Youth. Corll, of Berlin Center, is a freshman at YSU and a memberr of the Junior Fair Board, 4-H Junior Leader Program and National Grange Team.
William Wainio: The Ursuline High School senior has been a Boy Scout for nine years. Wainio, of Boardman, received his Eagle Scout award in August 2009 and is involved in St. Luke Youth Program.
Evan Acri: A six-year member of Boy Scouts, Acri has earned his Eagle Scout award, Rank of Life achievement, Bronze Palm and Order of the Arrow. He is from North Jackson and is a senior at Jackson-Milton High School.
Andrea Detwiler: She has been a member of 4-H for 14 years. Detwiler, of Columbiana, will be a freshman at Ohio State this fall. She also is a member of the 2010 4-H Royal Court.
Michele Awad: She is a five-year member of 4-H and is a senior at Cardinal Mooney High School. Awad, of Canfield, also is the secretary and a treasurer for Junior Fair Board.
Gabrielle Wilson: She has been in 4-H for 10 years, earning several college scholarships. Wilson is a sophomore at Ohio State and is from New Springfield.
Dylan Yuhas: He has been in 4-H for 14 years and is active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Youth Group. Yuhas, of Boardman, is a freshman at YSU. He has been on the 4-H Royal Court for three years and is a member of the Junior Fair Board.
