It was a celebration, a coronation and a farewell party wrapped up in one.
Following the biggest win of their high school careers (so far), Fitch seniors Steve Zaborsky and Bruce Reed each held half of the Federal League trophy over their heads, leading a host of other Falcons on a victory lap around the stadium as the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” blared from the speakers and students flooded on the field.
“I can’t even explain,” said Zaborsky following a 25-7 win over arch-rival Boardman on Friday. “There’s so many emotions running through me right now, I can’t even hold them all in.”

It's about time Fitch gets some media attention. While I know The Vindicator has been doing pretty extensive coverage across the Valley under Blitz, both TV stations have neglected to give them the attention they deserve. And one in particular that happens to cover sports in "MyValley" even relegated Fitch's progress this season to brief weekly mentions in their "Xtra Points" while other struggling high school teams that had no chance of heading to Federal League playoffs occupied the majority of local sports coverage.
Good for Fitch! It's been a long and winding road. I am happy for the students. Hope they continue their success.
Go Falcons!
