A city man told police he was shot in the leg by someone he did not see as he walked near South and Philadelphia avenues.

At 10:22 p.m. Friday, police were called to a South Avenue tavern, where they found the victim, Anthony Casanas, 21, of South Avenue, sitting on a chair with an apparent gunshot wound to his right upper thigh.

The victim, who said he heard one shot and felt a burning in his right leg, was taken by ambulance in stable condition to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Police said they checked the area and were unable to locate a crime scene.
