Pumpkin carving this weekend in Boardman Park

BOARDMAN — The Great Pumpkin Carve-Out Contest begins Friday at Boardman Park. Participants are asking to bring carving tools and newspapers to the park where pumpkins will be available for a small fee.

The contest is from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Prizes will be awarded in different age categories.

Haunted wagon rides also begin Friday from dusk to 10 p.m. The rides will run every Friday and Saturday during that time for the next three weekends. All proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations.

The cost of a wagon ride is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. The family rate is $12 for Boardman residents and $15 for nonresidents.
