Youngstown police investigating home invasion, robbery on West Side

Published: Tue, October 5, 2010 @ 1:58 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Police continue investigating a home invasion and robbery where a man, woman and 4-year-old child were held at gunpoint on the city’s West Side.

According to police, a 40-year-old Hartzell Avenue man was leaving his home to go to a nearby store Friday when he was pushed back inside by three armed men wearing bandannas and safety goggles. The men held guns on the man, his girlfriend and their 4-year-old child while demanding money.

Reports say the man handed the thieves $60, but the trio went through the girlfriend’s purse and took $1,200. The men threatened to kill the victims if police were called before running off. The incident was not reported to police until Monday.

How cool ! Sharing your wealth is good ! This went very well as the visitors to the home were not injured so no charges will be brought against the donors .

The last hope for Cornersburg part of the west side is to secede from Youngstown and join Austintown, Boardman, or Canfield.

The rest of the west side is a lost cause.

Or they could have just lied about the amount stolen....what are the chances those 3 are going to be right outside your door as you are leaving?

Friday was the 1st day of the month! And we all know what the first day of the month brings! Maybe they were heading out to buy a couple of filet mignon at Giant Eagle. :>)

I guess my question is: Why do you have $1200 in your purse instead of depositing it into the bank? Hmmmm, maybe don't trust the bank with your drug money?

Yeah the average person on the West Side carry's $1200.00 dollars on them.Something isn't right there. Drug's are the first thing that come to mind, perhaps some sort of insurance fraud as well. Either way I would bet that something shady is going on.

My favorite one is when their houses get broken into and the 90" tv with the playstation and the wii and 500 movies and games get stolen. And it's all from rent-a-center
