Toddler found unconscious in tub dies

Published: Fri, October 1, 2010 @ 10:38 p.m.

A 15-month-old girl found unconscious while taking a bath at home with an older girl Sept. 21 has died.

Adrhianna Solinger of 531 Washington St. NE died Thursday night in Akron Children’s Hospital.

Adrhianna, who was on life support, died a few hours after she was removed from a ventilator, Warren police said.

The girl’s mother, Amanda York, 21, had put the two girls in the tub together that morning and asked her father, Charles York, 47, of Red Fox Run Northwest, Warren, to keep an eye on them while she was busy elsewhere in the house, Warren police said.

Charles York said he could hear the girls in the tub splashing water, but when he checked on them, the younger girl was underwater and not breathing.

Charles York attempted to resuscitate Adrhianna, but the child was not breathing when paramedics arrived, police said.

Warren police and the Trumbull County Children’s Services Board continue to investigate the death and expect to present evidence to a Trumbull County grand jury for a determination of whether any criminal charges will be filed, said Capt. Janice Gilmore of the Warren Police Department.

It is sad but true...children who live with an adult who is not a biological parent have a 50 TIMES GREATER chance of dying than children who live with both biological parents.

This means children who are born to single mothers have a better than 50 times better chance of dying than children born to women who live with their husbands - and father of their children.

I'm so sorry about this poor, poor, child.
But when he was born illegitimately to his 20 year old mother, he was, simply, doomed.

Curious...where do you get your statistics Boardman?

While this is truly a tragic story, it certainly is not our place to assume we know all of the facts in this case.

I did not make this statistic up, ThatGirl. I read this in an article in the Vindicator several years ago.

As I said, this is a tragedy.

Every time I read about some poor illegitimate child who dies, I am reminded of this extraordinarily disturbing statistic.

But yet, the number of children born outside of wedlock in this country grows and grows each year.

I have never understood why young women consent to having illegitimate children, but every year, more and more do.

It's disturbing and disgusting.

And their poor children are the ones to pay.

You don't know the circumstances or the people involved. Don't throw out BS stats and c omments. Let this family grieve the loss of their loved one.
