UPDATE: Portion of I-680 also closed after truck overturns on 711 Connector

Published: Sat, November 20, 2010 @ 11:33 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN

A truck crash on the 711 Connector this morning has forced the shutdown of an additional highway. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that Interstate 680 southbound from Meridian Road in the city also is closed.

A truck overturned on the 711 Connector shortly before 10 a.m. today, forcing authorities to close that area of the roadway.

Traffic is being stopped at 711 southbound entering Interstate 680 southbound. It is being detoured to I-680 northbound.

Officials do not expect the roads to reopen until at least mid-afternoon.

A large amount of debris, hydraulic fluids and diesel fuel filled the roadway, and authorities have called a cleanup crew to clear the highway.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency also has been contacted.
