Christmas kickoff set for Springfield

The Springfield Community Chamber of Commerce will kick off the Christmas season Saturday with a parade, craft show, luncheon, home tour and tree-lighting ceremony.

The parade will begin, weather permitting, at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street at Springfield High School and proceed to St. Paul the Apostle Church parking lot.

A craft show then will get under way at the church from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include local vendors with homemade goods and gift items available.

Local restaurants will serve lunch at St. Paul’s from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Home Tour will run from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with five local residences and one business on the list. These include; the Niemi home, 5440 Pine Lake Road, Petersburg; The Nelson Home at 6491 E. Garfield Road, Petersburg; the Gebhardt home, 13316 Woodworth Road, New Springfield; the Flaherty Home, 4175 E. Middletown Road, New Middletown; and the Ely home, 4250 Shelly Lyn Lane in Carousel Corners, New Middletown. In addition, two floors of “Christmas Magic” await visitors when they tour the Hampton Hill Mercantile, 10477 Main Street, New Middletown.

The day will conclude with a tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. which can be viewed from the parking lot of St. Paul’s.

Tickets for the home tour are $10 and are available at many local businesses including the Magnolia Station, Hampton Hill Mercantile, Kensal’s Hardware, the Golden Rye and Novak & Davis. Call 330-542-9940 for other ticket sale locations and more information.
