YOUNGSTOWN

A 51-year-old Youngstown man is recovering in the hospital and charged with felonious assault after an altercation at a West Side bar.

Christopher Seaman of Glenwood Avenue was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment late Monday night after he was involved in an altercation with a 43-year-old female bartender at the Handle Bar on Mahoning Avenue. The bartender was knocked unconscious and also taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

According to police reports, Seaman was at the bar highly intoxicated Monday and berating the bartender with foul language. Reports say the bartender asked Seaman to leave and he hit the woman in the head with a beer bottle knocking her unconscious.

Other patrons in the bar helped revive the woman and called police. She was taken to the hospital after having a seizure in the bar.
