Carnival continues at Boardman mall

Published: Mon, May 31, 2010 @ 5:24 p.m.

Police charged a boy with assaulting a police officer at a carnival at the Southern Park Mall after large groups of teens fought.

Police closed the carnival after breaking up the fight, which began about 10 p.m. Saturday.

The Bates Brothers Carnival was reopened Sunday without a problem, police said. It is scheduled to continue on the mall’s parking lot through next Sunday.

The Boardman PD has enough to deal with, without these "inner city punks" coming here and creating problems. Close it down or control it better.

Not surprised there was trouble with the element that was present. Too bad they can't behave in public, it just makes it hard on the rest of the civil part of society to go out and enoy themselves.

Everyone leaving messages about "inner city punks" and "hoodrats" needs to visit these carnivals/festivals in the area and re-evaluate what your thinking. Alot of times it's preppy, stuck up teenagers from Boardman, Canfield, Poland, and especially Austintown who are causing trouble and creating problems. It's not always inner-city kids who go to Youngstown schools who cause problems. If you didn't raise your kids to think their better than everyone else, maybe their wouldn't be as much drama among these teenagers. Before you insult someone take a good hard look at yourself, your not perfect, no one is.

What do you mean "inner city". Just because you live or pretend to live in Boardman does not make you immune to any sort of trouble. There is plenty of drugs, sex and other illegal activities going on in Boardman and the only reason why we don't hear about it in the news is because mommy/daddy has paid someone to keep it hushed. You've got thugs/punks living in Boardman and not just on the outskirts either. You people kill me with that BS! Just because one group of kids caused some trouble or got into trouble doesn't make all kids that come from Ytown guilty. And as far as living in Campbell goes, you wish you could have the loyalty and closeness that Campbell families have. If you don't know what you are talking about shutup until you get your facts straight. DON'T LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE AND THROW STONES!!!!

I have said it before---charge these morons and their parents. Also, hire enough security for these events. Thanks to our elected officials, there are many good officers laid off. Find out if their union will allow this type of work and hire them.

Valleys_Voice......make no mistake, I'm well aware we don't have 100% angels running around Boardman, etc. I saw what kids were involved in the problems at the carnival and it wasn't kids from Boardman! That is my point...we've enough problems without importing them!

The teenagers who caused the rucus at the Mall; do they realize they did wrong? Teens raised in homes where abuse and violence are a daily thing and, taught in schools with no ten commandments to quide them; what do they have to compare it too, no matter where they are from? Young people carry what they are taught and what is done to them whereever they go, be it good or bad. Their true learning and being comes from Dad and Mom or an abscense of a good Dad or Mom. Still, this must be prepared for with more security everywhere. And, there are more fun people at these things than not. Thank God for that. M.

Let me chime in one last time. Do not, DO NOT, critisize an entire community for the misdeeds of a few people. You should be embarassed for the name calling, finger pointing, and verbal abuse you dish out to people who may or not be less fortunate than you. Not everyone is Youngstown is a criminal or a bad person. There is a deep history surrounding Youngstown and its suburbs. You should be proud of who you are and where you come from. And that includes every town and city in this entire area. It's people like you, who are pessimistic and downright rotten that create such a dark, gloomy shadow for our area. If more people displayed their pride for our community, and contributed to it rather than trash it with their actions and thoughts, we could all live in a better environment and display the good qualities that would make us more honorable and respecting to others.
