West call center plans to hire 50
A customer-service call center in Trumbull County that employs 1,100 workers will hire 50 additional employees this summer.
West Corp., an Omaha-based conferencing and customer-service provider, will conduct interviews May 24 and 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its Niles site, 5185 Youngstown-Warren Road.
The new employees will help the center handle increased call volume, said Pat Cascarelli, human resource director for West Corp., in Niles.
“We support a cellular wireless company, and they are sending us more calls,” Cascarelli said. “They know we handle the calls well, and their customer base is expanding.”
Cascarelli would not specify which company the call center services.
The new jobs will add to a local work force of more than 4,000 in the call-center industry. Local call centers for Infocision and XVI Global Solutions also have added employees this year.
The new West Corp. jobs will pay $10 an hour, after an unspecified “introductory” period. Benefits include paid training, a 401(k) plan and tuition reimbursement.
