Politicians tout President Obama’s visit to the Valley

Published: Mon, May 17, 2010 @ 12:03 p.m.

President Barack Obama’s Tuesday trip to V&M Star in Youngstown highlights the importance of the federal stimulus package in a $650 million expansion there, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan said today.

Without the $19 million from the federal package, the V&M “project would have never ever happened,” said Ryan of Niles, D-17th.

The expansion will create 400 construction jobs. When the plant opens, there will be 230 employees working directly for V&M and 120 contract workers at the new facility.

Jared Bernstein, chief economist to the vice president, said Obama on Tuesday “will connect the dots” between the stimulus package investments and what it means for businesses, such as V&M.

You forgot to mention the great improvement in unemployment. Oh I forgot there is no improvement it only gets worse. You also forgot to mention that a large chunk of American money will be going to France. Let's celebrate only after the victories, not before.

Little Timmy Ryan makes a great point. If not for the feds and the $19 million, V&M just wouldn't have been able to do it. The feds are kicking in 3% of the total contract! It's a deal buster! Since the feds control the railroad industry and V&M needed additional space, requiring a relocation of a rail line, I don't see the big deal. Another example of a politician trying to move himself up the line by patting himself on the back! Appears to me that Little Timmy is looking over his shoulder and sees train coming at him. I wonder who is running that train?

This was a great win for the Valley contrary to the usual naysayers on this blog. 400 good paying construction jobs for our area and another 350 high-paying manufacturing jobs that will benefit the entire Valley. And Tim Ryan played an important role throughout the negotiations to get this project. He's a great leader for this area.

You can bet Tim will show up for this back slaping session as the public isn't invited so there's no chance a few people with protest signs causing him to turn yellow and cancel.
He and the President will enjoy a nice controlled crowd for their campaign speeches.
He's just a brown nosed rubber stamping wimp.
How about a nice public town hall meeting where some "American Taxpayers" can ask some hard questions?
Never happen...Tim dosen't have the guts
