The Mahoning County Democratic Party “illegally” spent $146 on alcoholic beverages, according to a review of its financial records by the Ohio auditor’s office.
The party paid for the beer for last summer’s Democratic picnic from its restricted fund, something not permitted by state law.
After being told by the auditor’s office about the finding for recovery, the party wrote a check from its general fund to its restricted fund for the $146, according to the financial review.
The party is permitted to use its general fund for such purposes, said Chairman David Betras.
“We wrote the check from the wrong fund,” he said. “It was a mistake. It was nothing and it’s been corrected.”

I don't always drink beer, but when I do I prefer dos equies.. Stay thirsty my friend's.
Marcus - $146 mistake for beer....yea lets lock them all up and throw away the key. Please.
The $146 they used was still their money.
Just tells you that Mahoning County is run by a bunch of drunks!!!
What's the old saying...they have champagne tastes, but a beer pocket book?
Let's see now...$146...at $18 a case...that's 8 cases of beer...192 bottles of beer. That's not even enough for a wedding! How many people did this purchase fuel? And who took home the excess?

You stated "Just tells you that Mahoning County is run by a bunch of drunks!!!"
Now if there were only three people at this party you might be on to something. But I am sure that there would be a heck of a lot more people in attendance then that. So the real perspective would be that they are a bunch of tea toteler's.
I could only quess what your bar tab would look like !
Who cares....
Why is the Auditor even doing this? Political parties are private entities.
Why is "illegally" in quotes in this story?
Ya really who cares.
Really scraping for news these days, aren't we?
Big story, boys. Real big story. Was it really $146 whole dollars. WOW!
Why is this such a big deal? I am sure that there are a lot more important things to write about. I am sure that this kind of thing happens more than we know.
One hundred and forty-six bottles of beer on the wall . This was enough to get a few drunk but not all . If sober the privileged would not have made a bad judgement call !
