Two area members of Congress said they received threats because they voted in favor of the landmark health-care bill.
U.S. Reps. John Boccieri of Alliance, D-16th, who grew up and lived most of his life in Mahoning County; and Kathy Dahlkemper of Erie, Pa., whose district includes a portion of Mercer County, said they received threats.
“Having flown missions in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan, I know what it’s like to be in harm’s way,” said Boccieri, an Air Force Reserve pilot based at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. “But I never imagined serving in Congress could feel the same.”
Dahlkemper said: “Regrettably, my office has received a number of e-mails, letters, faxes and phone calls that are threatening or menacing in nature as a result of my vote in favor of health-care reform.”

lovely tea partiers
and this crap is encouraged by nutjobs like limbaugh, palin, beck, hannity, coulter, boehner & company.
The title of this article should be "The Neocons and Tea Partiers Show Their True Colors".
The shameful part is the republican party. They are so honked off about Obama, Pelosi and Hillary that they now want to start a civil war. Health care reform has little or nothing to do with it. They are sinking their own ship. Idiot McCain and his followers claimed they will oppose ANY legislation the Obama Administration puts forth during his term. Smart people can see through their stupid ploy and will send all the klu-kluxers packing next November. BTW, I'm NOT black..........
Cantor(R) this week and Jim Bunning(R) last week received threats. So jrolley, what nutjobs in the commmunist party is responsible for these?
is there any visual/audio evidence of these? we've all seen the broken windows and heard the messages left by the stereotypical republican voice with the heavy southern drawl all over tv. surely, you would think fox news could find pictures and audio of these threats you allege.
anyway, thats beside the point. liberal pundits and/or talk show hosts don't go on the air encouraging their viewers to be as violent and disruptive as possible. i don't recall anybody breaking windows or making death threats during bush's tax cuts for the wealthy years as well as the war that nobody wanted.
@jrolley they dont have any audio but it was reported that about a dozen of congress plus local from this area were getting threats on abcnews website wytv http://www.wytv.com/content/news/loca...
Boccieri blew his political future by voting for ObamaCare. He is going to get crushed in November and he DESERVES IT!
To make threats to members of congress is just plain stupid!! If you don't like the way they voted, then vote them out of office. The health care plan has a long way to go before it is final. I wonder how many members of congress actually read the document. Better yet, how many actually understood it. The fight is far from over.
Anyone thought about the fact that some of these threats could be from democrats that are dissatisfied with what their party is doing? Or is it just easier to automatically blame republicans?
What is amazing is that these clowns voted for a bill that they are now trying to clean up because it had a "few minor errors" in it. These dingle berry A-holes never read it before voting on it. You libs must be so proud! And some of you are even tax payers!!!
Let's see.....Obama won in a landslide victory, healthcare reform finally passed...seems like a majority of the whiners on this board are actually the minority of the population.
"62% of Americans want the GOP to keep fighting ObamaCare including 41% of Democrats,"...these are statistics people, statistics lie! Guess what? they are just a sample of the population...not all 300 million people were surveyed.
We finally have a president in office that is actually doing something besides filling his pockets. Get used to it, you will have another 7 years with the man!
Bocceri had a bright future ahead of him, but he blew it by acting like a true politician and acting like a true partisan. I'll gladly donate to his opponent!
and the republicans are the poster boys of bipartisanship? give me a break. they claimed to agree that healthcare reform was needed, but refused to even participate.....just simply vote NO for the sake of taking down the democratic president.
Wow just a few months ago ACORN and all their well respected followers were stalking AIG Executives and gathering out side their houses.
So remember The Party of Hate belongs to the Democrats.
@andersonathan Correction there is hate with both parties and also with people who are not apart of any political party.
These people are domestic terrorists and should be treated as such. Every person involved in harassing, assaulting (spitting), or attacking any elected official should be arrested. I'm so glad that the Republican thugs are showing their true colors for all the world to see. They are nothing but a bunch of uneducated hatemongers. What a pack of losers.
Voice your dissatisfaction or approval through voting, not violence.
The comments from Palin, Boehner, McConnel, and Fox News brought this on. The Tea Partiers are a crazy bunch anyway with their tea bags hanging from hats, etc. It's no wonder they have turned to violence after losing on the good healthcare bill that passed. The only ones who lose with this bill are the rich who make more then $250000 and RepubliCANTS. Accept the new law of the land and move on to economic reform and fixing the economy with jobs.
I have an idea....how about the democrats and republicans put aside party politics for 2 seconds and come up with something that is good for the whole country!
I am so sick of reading how ordinary people listen to the crap that these idiots ramble on about and they actually believe them. Do I think universal healthcare is a good idea? absolutely but I am not so sure the best possible form of the bill got through Congress because our elected representatives argued like 3rd grade girls on a playground, instead of working together for the best bill possible.
There is no reason the US can't do the same thing that other industrialized nations around the world do...yea maybe it will eat up some tax dollars but I'd much rather my hard earned money go to provide quality services to other Americans then for that money to be used in a made up war across the world that has no impact on my daily life.
I own a degree in political science and I am not so sure at this point I would even attach my name to either party...I am truly disappointed with our representatives and I can't help but think of how nice life would be if we elected representatives based on their characteristics and credentials instead of the R or D that go beside their name....here's to dreaming!
"62% of Americans want the GOP to keep fighting ObamaCare including 41% of Democrats." That is bull, Jessie.
According to Gallup, and almost all who have reported recently:
"Some 49 percent of American adults called the new law 'a good thing,' compared with 40 percent who called it a 'bad thing.'"
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics...
Repent.
Gallup sees “a clear political victory” for Mr. Obama and his allies in Congress. Gallup also notes the wide disparity in partisan reactions, with 82 percent of Democrats either “enthusiastic” or “pleased” and 79 percent of Republicans either “angry” or “disappointed.”
It will only get worse because the Democrats and President Obama are going to continue to rack up legislative victories that help the American People.
How are these rethug losers going to react when Dems pick up more seats in the House and the Senate this year and Obama wins a second term in 2012?
The rethuglican party is finished.
And lets call these folks for what they are: They aren't tea partiers or tea baggers they are republicans. I repeat these people are the heart and sole of the republican party.
You are all idiots!! Durkin allows the trash of the area to go free after a couple years and you think it's all about class and party!! Dumba$$e$! Each and every one of you will be robbed and rap3d for your stupidity!!
