Abolish the death penalty

This letter is in response to the column in the Saturday, Feb. 20, edition by Marc Kovac concerning the frequent use of the Ohio death penalty.

Although, I in no way condone the crimes that have been committed by prisoners on death row, neither can I condone the apparent satisfaction of Mr. Kovac in seeing the death penalty carried out so frequently in Ohio. Perhaps if he would get to know how they have conducted their lives since their crimes, he would not be so free with his apparent wish to empty Ohio’s death row. And it might be added that in numerous studies, the death sentence has not been proven to be a deterrent to crime. This is one of the reasons why many states have abandoned the practice.

Christ taught us that all life — even the lives of those on death row — have great value. Perhaps Mr. Kovac should consider this and instead write a column asking for the abolishment of the death penalty. We would all be better served.

Of course those who were murdered have no value as they have been robbed of life . Their killers have value but not to the families of those who were murdered . I also find it hard to find any great value in these killers on death row .

Frances May, New Springfield - I guess you would like all the murders to be paroled and put back out in with the masses, or stay in prison for the rest of there lives so that we have to pay for them.... Maybe they can all move to New Springfield, live in your neighbor.....

I am just curious here -- how many of you who support the death penalty consider yourselves "pro-life", and, if you are, how do you justify it?

The unborn is innocent of any sin . They don't deserve to be slaughtered by abortion .

Those who murder should not shy away from what was good for their victim . They consider their lives worthy and their victims not .

"Perhaps if he would get to know how they have conducted their lives since their crimes, he would not be so free with his apparent wish to empty Ohio’s death row. "

How they conduct there lives in prison. They have no choice but to neither find Christ or keep on being the low life useless animal they are. So having a bed to rest on at night, 3 meals a day, recreation time, and medical attention is bettering themselves, well there victims are gone from this planet. Something is wrong with that picture, don't you think Frances May.
And also in the bible is Genesis 9:6
"Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man."

I do not believe in abortion as a "form" of birth control.....if the mothers life is in danger, then yes. Babies are innocent, the men on death row, knew what they were doing.

These guys sit in prison for 20 years raping the tax payers with their appeals and costly incarceration and they know darn well they are guilty. Is that justice for the family? They eat better and have better medical attention than most of the law abiding citizens.
