President says health-care fraud, abuse must end

Published: Wed, March 10, 2010 @ 5:43 p.m.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — President Barack Obama says Washington for too long has accepted billions of dollars in health-care fraud and abuse as simply the cost of doing business. He says that must end.

Obama said today improper health payments cost taxpayers $100 billion each year — more than Washington spends on education and the Small Business Administration combined.

Obama says he was sent to Washington to change that system, so earlier in the day he signed an order expanding the use of high-tech bounty hunters to help root out health-care fraud, a populist idea with bipartisan backing.

The president came to Missouri as the latest piece of his closing argument on his health-care overhaul. He says inaction would hurt Americans.

@samjudwin

Nope,..

He's not resigning and apparently he's cutting off one of your venues of theft.

I mean he's so determined to attack fraud and abuse he's commissioned federal bounties to hunt for those multi million dollar criminals that's been historically fleecing the taxpayers money.

Thus for you to dislike the vehement measures the president's taking to stop the frauds. In and of itself sends a clear signal you feel targeted as one of those thieves,.. No?

Or you're just so pre-programmed misguided. That you've been told to hail that you enjoy being extorted,.. that's quiet clear.

Thus why's that if you'd contend to not be a culprit crook that's set on cheating fellow taxpayers or one being fleeced and yet contend you favor it?,.. it's either or there pal.

I mean otherwise only an absolutely witless and total complete fool. Would think it wise, fashionable or even remotely sensible. To oppose someone looking out for and orchestrating actionable enforcement to protect and defend taxpayers assets via executive order,.. that's a presidents job.

See sensible and or sane people could care less about party, race or whatever. When it comes down to now having a president that's going to ensure we get what we pay for.

By not favoring any continuing to legislate taxpayers being ripped via those that partake, orchestrate, condone and live by it,.. it's that clear.

So either you share those wholesome values or you absolutely have none of worthwhile mention at all,.. period.

@USA1

Is that the best desperation lie you can come up with?

There's no health care monopoly neither proposed nor being enacted.

Where to cite a reform of making it illegal to deny fair and equitable health care coverage for those of poor or failing health is a take over is insane.

I'm for offering a public option and either plan a patron chooses for coverage isn't going to be free.

However if to let the fleecing private market mavens flat out deny coverage to individuals is your choice check your policy,..

Where if you condone allowing the monopolized private brokers to raise rates for record profit margin is your bliss.

Then now hear this it's corrupt, unethical, and fiscally non sustainable.

Good bad or indifferent it's always been via positional importance. Nobody get's the same exact benefits the president does.

It's not a presidents fault nor choice it's a national security protocol and he has a medical staff and portable E.R. unit that travels with him everywhere he goes.

Which that's just not feasible to provide for everybody. But then again not any of us does what presidents are required to do.

I'm sure upon reform and budget reconciliation you'll be both allowed and it'll be more affordable. For your handlers to take you to some of the best veterinarians in the business.
