AUSTINTOWN

All 5,500 customers affected by a power outage around noon Friday should have had their power restored by 6:30 p.m. that day.

David Turner, external affairs manager for Ohio Edison in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, said the massive outage occurred from equipment malfunction at a substation near Salt Springs Road.

He said he was unable to say if the outage was isolated or spread out around the township, but several residents reported businesses and homes along Mahoning Avenue and Westchester Drive to be among those affected.
