Karadzic the barbarian shows no shame, regret
TweetThe mastermind of the siege of Sarajevo during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia has finally taken the stand in his defense. And true to form, Radovan Karadzic is justifying the slaughter of 8,000 Muslims by describing them as legitimate targets.
Indeed, Karadzic not only denied Serb culpability, but said the mass murder of Muslims at Srebrenica was stage managed or fabricated to vilify the Serb community.
Of course, the judges presiding over the trial in The Hague, Netherlands, since last October have already heard a tape recording of his hate-laced words urging the destruction of Bosnia’s non-Serbs.
Chief Prosecutor Alan Tieger, leading the United Nations prosecutorial team, played a video of a notorious speech Karadzic gave before war broke out in the Balkans. He predicted that Muslims would disappear from Bosnia.
“By the disappearance of the Muslim people, Karadzic meant that they would be physically annihilated,” Tieger said.
Karadzic faces 11 charges — two genocide counts and nine other war crimes and crimes against humanity. He has refused to enter any pleas, but insists he is innocent. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
But Karadzic’s contention about what occurred during the war in Bosnia is challenged by the facts.
For example, he denied that Sarajevo was under siege and, instead, was a divided city like Beirut. He accused Muslim and Croat forces of “the abuse of hospitals, schools, kindergartens turned into military facilities” and said they established sniper positions, rooftop bunkers and firing points throughout the city.
Karadzic contended that when Serb troops responded to fire, they were accused of firing indiscriminately at Sarajevo.

However, his version of what occurred during the siege has already been challenged with the conviction of two commanders of the Bosnian Serb army for relentlessly raining shell fire on the city.
The horror was played out in front of international television cameras.
What makes Karadzic’s conduct of the war all the more horrific is the fact that Srebrenica, a U.N. safe haven for Muslim refugees, was overrun by Serbian forces loyal to the late strongman Slobodan Milosevic, resulting in a rampage that lasted a week.
The Serbs separated men and boys, forced them to strip, killed them and bulldozed their bodies into mass graves.
Karadzic was arrested in July 2008 after evading capture for 13 years during which time he lived under the noses of those seeking to bring him to justice. He concealed his identity with a long, white beard and practiced alternative medicine in Belgrade, Serbia.
He was nabbed in Belgrade — by a stroke of luck. He wasn’t the intended target. Serbian security forces were looking for Gen. Ratko Mladic, Karadzic’s wartime commander, when they literally stumbled onto the former Serbian leader.
Despite his attempt to portray the Serbs as victims and his role in the mass murder of Muslims as merely a leader protecting his people, the facts point to a campaign of ethnic cleansing.
For that, he must pay with his freedom.

First of all you should watch your language and be shameful putting your uneducated opinion on internet. You showed your poor education by doing so. First of all Karadzic is not barbarian and you have proven that your knowledge about the war in former Yugoslavia is extremaly poor. The facts are that therere were no siege of Sarajevo and bosnian muslims had their supplies including weaponry, Alqaida fighters, food and other things delivered to them by air and land. Even sometibes "UN -blue helmets" delivered weapons to them to Zepa and Srebrenica so they both could not be considered as safe zones as such. My friednd you even did not know about alqaida when Karadzich was leading fighting against its elements and at that time our dear US government has openly supported the alquaida. Ironicaly - Karaddzic have warned US by "The enemy that we (Serbs) are fighting today is going to be your enamy tomorrow". Guess what most of the alqaida members had Bosnian passports. An intelligent person would know how to connect the dots and know why. Before putting your nonsence up on the internet please read some indempendent media other than CNN (Clinton News Network) about that war especially about such items about Markale, Srebrenica, Zepa, ethnic cleansing etc. Canadian General McKenzie wrote an interesting book about it. Why muslim Bosnian government does not want to do the report the ethnical structure of the population?
The answer are: That would prove that the "masacre in srebrenica" did not hapen as it was reported. It would be proven that many of the reported 8000 people were either actually alive, or actually Serbs killed by Naser Oric's army in Kravice and other area about Bratunac and Srebrenica. Naser and his caward fighters were using their own people as the shield within Srebrenica and actually shooting at Serbs provoking the fighting. When someone shoots at you from a "safe zone" and kills your soldiers constantly - if you were commander what would you do? Sit there and do nothing or use napalm and torch them just as it was done in Vietnam. Serbs did not use napalm nor did they do massive killings other than when they were attacked.
If I were you, I would have been ashamed putting that your nonsence up on the internet. Everything I have put up here are based on marble facts and you have nothing in your OPINION article.

On 9/11/2001 we were treated to an attack on our soil by Islamics . We fought a war for Islam by taking Kosovo away from the Serbs and giving it to the Islamic Albanians . We received plenty of so called thanks in return .
Today Serbs living in Kosovo are subject to constant attacks by the Albanians . Most of the Christian Churches that stood for centuries have been burnt and blasted to ruble . Isn't it Ironic that those who attacked us on 9/11/2001 were not Serbs but Islamics ? Isn't it ironic that the attempted attack on our soldiers at Fort Dix New Jersey was by Albanians ?

I watched this video of the Bosnian Parliament where these words were said during a debate over declaring independence. What was omitted was “If you want to declare independence you may lead Bosnia down the road to war where BY THE DISSAPPEARANCE OF THE ……. Don’t be like CNN.
My question for de Souza is, what happened to innocent until proven guilty.
This court case could be one of the most compelling since the Nuremburg Trials. If Karadzic gets to Subpoena persons like Clinton, Albright, Vance and Lord Owen the information could be monumental.
But just like de Souza it appears the Karadzic is already guilty.

Each of the previous comments were legitimate comments supported by facts as arguments unlike the article and let alone your comment/. I am not attacking Muslims nor Bosnians nor Croatians nor spreading any type of pro Serbian propaganda. I am just stating the facts and your comment has none of that. Our war with Al-Quaida isn't much different than the Serbs defending themselves against attacks by the Albanians . Far more Islamics were killed and maimed by the United States than by the Serbs .We are hated for the deaths we have inflicted in Iraq and Afghanistan . They hate us for supporting Israel . Those who attacked us on 9/11/2001 are called "The Magnificent Nineteen" in the Islamic world .

Radovan Karadzic is a choir boy compared to the deaths and injuries inflicted by the US Military in Iraq and Afghanistan . War is meant to kill , maim and destroy . On 9/11/2001 civillians were killed and maimed on US soil . We retaliated just as the Serbs retaliated when they were being attacked .
Over the past 18 years, Karadzic supporters have gone above and beyond to propagate lies, deny role of Serbia's army and military aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They have not been and they will not be successful.
Drawing parallels between Bosnia and other countries mentioned in other posts is ridiculous.
Denying siege of Sarajevo is ridiculous. The entire city population is a witness to this atrocity.
Denying genocide in Srebrenica is ridiculous. There are too many (unlikely) survivors and witnesses.
Denying that there was no alternative to war (and thus no alternative to Greater Serbia project of Milosevic) is ridiculous.
If Serbia was truly a "democracy" as it portrays itself, it would not be harboring not one but two war criminals while pursuing EU membership. That, also, is ridiculous.

It is about time to real truth to come up and to see who were real terrorists in that war in former Yugoslavia. Connection between Bosnian Muslims and Osama bin-Laden and their intentions were obvious and well known to Karadzic before "9-11 attack" however Clinton's administration decided to side with Osama in 90-s despite Karadzic's warning: "The enemy we (Serbs) are fighting today is your enemy tomorrow". Why would Karadzic be ashamed? For fighting Al Qaida in Bosnia(!?)
