GREEN BAY, Wis.
Heather Golden scored 15 points, Sarah Eichler added 14, and Wisconsin-Green Bay scored the first 14 points of the game and never looked back in a 84-45 defeat of Youngstown State in a Horizon League women’s basketball game on Thursday night.
The loss was the 28th of the season for the Penguins (0-28, 0-17 Horizon League) and their 29th in a row dating to last season.
Green Bay improved to 25-3 overall and 14-3 in the league. With the win the Phoenix clinched the No. 1 seed for the Horizon tournament which starts next week.
Morgan Faase added 13 points and Celeste Hoewisch finished with 10 for Green Bay, which led 50-15 at halftime.
Youngstown State was led by Brandi Brown with 12 points and she also had six rebounds.
Brown was 5 of 10 from the field; the rest of the Penguins were a combined 9 for 27, or 33 percent.
Maryum Jenkins added 10 points for Youngstown State, which was just 15 of 24 at the foul line.
