Downtown dash to help charity
Not only do those participating in the second annual St. Paddy’s Downtown Dash on March 12 get to enjoy themselves and visit downtown, they’re helping a good cause, the event’s organizer says.
The event will raise money and canned goods for the Gleaners Food Bank in Youngstown.
“This helps people see our many great downtown establishments,” said Lyndsey A. Hughes, Youngstown’s downtown director of special events and special projects. “And it also helps a great cause.”
Sixteen bars and restaurants are participating in the dash, each offering drink specials.
The event starts at 5 p.m. with a sign-up at the B&O Station, 230 Mahoning Ave.
The cost for a wrist-band is $5. It’s reduced to $2 if a person brings a canned food donation for Gleaners.
